Soft Red Gummi Stone
For fine buffing and polishing on the edge
Used for finer buffing and polishing on a ski and snowboard edge.

Starting at the tip of the ski/board, the gummi stone should be run at a 45 degree angle for up to 4” to 8” (10 to 20 cm) past the contact point. Making multiple passes, reducing the length of the stroke each time, feather the edge from the tip to the set bevels.
Run the gummi stone from tip to tail to deburr and repeat the detune process in the tail. The further down the ski/board the detune is applied the more forgiving the ski/board becomes. This allows for smoother initiation and easier release of the turn. The shorter the detune the more aggressive the ski/board becomes.
The more the edges are detuned the less effective the side cut is on the shape of the turn. After tuning the edges there will be a burr that has developed and it must be removed.
Note: Even the most carefully prepared skis/boards will lose their ability to turn smoothly if not properly deburred.
